Saturday Randomness

Saturday Random Internet Finds

It is Saturday and I was so busy with, well life off my computer, I will only post some random things I have found on the internet for your enjoyment.

From Pinterest I found this:

I have not brought up Harry Potter yet, but I was a die hard fan. I loved the books the movies, but most of all the characters. Severus Snape was my favorite from the beginning. I kept saying, "He can't be bad there is more to him under the surface." I bawled during the movie when his time came, because Alan Rickman killed that performance. This picture just reinstates what I've always believed and that was, Snape even though he was always treated like demon with no heart, he had the highest capacity for love than any character I've seen, or read.

This is from Tumblr:

NCIS If you haven't seen this show. Sit down and turn on the USA channel(They have reruns of NCIS every other day). This show has been a fave of mine since I had to watch it cause mom wouldn't turn the channel.  The show has got amazing characters, and even though it is a crime drama, it borders more on the light side. Which in my opinion is why it works so well.  Recommend you take the time to get acquainted with Gibbs, Tony, McGee, Abby, Ducky, and Ziva, because it's a shame not to.

Last this is from YouTube:

I gave a Doctor Who update earlier, this video has spoilers from up to the 2012 Christmas Special. The Ponds were someone the doctor needed after his tenth generation. In his tenth form that's all he really craved, was wanting a family life, to be able to settle down. In his 11th generation he knew he couldn't have that, so instead of being the one to settle down, he opens his house and invites a family in, so that he can have a family that doesn't settle like he can't. Losing that family he created was one of the most heartbreaking scene's (cried more during doomsday). The Pond's will be apart of the 11th Generation for quite a time.

How was your Saturday? Anything you'd like me to blog about Sunday?

Iron Lady Movie Review

Iron Lady Movie Review

Again bringing you reviews for movies that aren't exactly new. Today I watched The Iron Lady from 2011.  I knew little of the background going into this movie. All I knew was the basic plot, Margaret Thatcher was trying to become the first female Prime Minister of Britain. So going in with knowing just that, I was amazed at what I came away with. I have to say if you have never heard of this person before you need to open the books, because she is a role model for everyone.

The movie was amazing how they took on the history of this women. Instead of showing the movie in a linear line. Its starts with Margaret well she is old, and shows her remembering bits of her life as she goes though her day to day life. I love the fact that even though she got so powerful, would take no nonsense from anyone, she still could be so relate able with everyone else.  The part that got me the most was when she took the time to write each and every family that lost a family member in the war, was just touching. I asked dad why the president doesn't do that, and he couldn't give an answer. That is what I think got me about Margaret. She could rule with an iron fist, but she never forgot what it was like to be on the bottom pole, hoping someone would put in a word for them.

This movie isn't an action packed thriller, so don't expect a fast paced movie. My dad was watching it with me so it was a history lesson inside of a history movie. I recommend watching it with your parents so they can go I remember that. I find that quite enjoyable. I rate this movie though  9 out of 10. I honestly loved it the movie, the acting, the way it was presented, It was just a really good film to watch.

What do you think of this movie?

Moneyball Movie Review

Moneyball Movie Review

So being unemployed means I don't go out and see new movies in the theater often. Today I saw Moneyball for the first time. This was an enjoyable film. I went in only knowing it was a film about baseball scouting. Now I love Baseball, I don't know why, but baseball is defiantly my top sport to watch. So during this movie  I was able to watch without falling asleep, well my mother slept though almost half.  It takes place more on the business behind the game, so it is one that takes patience to watch.

The movie is about Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt, who under a limited budget tries to reinvent the scouting  process using statistics instead of normal scouting tactics.  To accomplish this Billy brings on assistant Peter Brand, played by Johan Hill. Peter is a wiz at statistics, and also brings what little comedy there is to the picture. I must say the trailer led me to believe this would be much funnier, than it was. Anyway Billy and Peter go up against all kinds of difficulties. They stick to there guns though to create a team no one will back, but go on to reach an American League Record. If there's one motto for this film it's "sticking to your guns." Billy and Peter put everything on the line for what they believe praying that it works.

I won't spoil the ending if you haven't seen the movie. If you love the game of Baseball this movie, will keep you watching and mildly enjoyed. I found my self laughing and getting warm and fuzzy at all the right parts. The biggest thing was there were parts that lagged and kind of lost your attention. The good thing was the film makers anticipated and were able to pull you back with a joke or Brad Pitt throwing something.  I recommend all baseball fans watch this, and if your not a sports movie buff may want to watch something else.  Rated 6 out of 10. Mostly for the lagging and some scenes just didn't make sense why they were there.

So do you enjoy Baseball? Whats your favorite sport?

Merlin Series Review

Merlin Series Review

I think I will call this British week and get the reviews for all my British shows out of the way.

Today I'm reviewing the BBC show Merlin. Merlin concluded it's finale season this December, and you can find the first 4 seasons on Netflix. Season 5 is still showing on the SyFy channel in America Fridays at 9pm PST, so I'll try and keep spoilers to a minimum.

Basic Plot line for Merlin is the myth that surrounded King Arthur, The Knights of Camelot, and the wizard Merlin.  Many know the basic story line for the series. What I love and, that I'm sure may fans of the show enjoy as well, is the fact that these stories are manipulated in a way that holds true to the myth, but in a way that hasn't been seen. For example the fact that magic has been outlawed, and Merlin, even though he must guide and protect Arthur, he must do so with out revealing his magic. The knights as well having twists in their characters that make them stand out all on there own.

Now I had heard about this series and had sat there wondering if it was really worth the hype to watch. Camelot is a story I love reading and enjoying. So I was hesitant to actually watch it. With prodding from 2 of my friends I finally sat down and started the series. I wasn't disappointed. From the first time Arthur met Merlin and that awkward meeting I was hooked in to the series. The two main actors stole the show, and I couldn't stop waiting to see what happened next. Each episode had it's own sense of danger, yet comical moment, that made me enjoy the series even more!!!

I'd give this series a 8 out of 10 score. The only down side was the fact that the CG was poor, It got better over time, but I know it will be a turn off for some.

So for those that seen the series what do you enjoy? For those that haven't seen Merlin does this review help?

Doctor Who 50th Notes

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

So found this picture on my Pinterest and thought what a great way to start my blog off. For those that don't know the two men in the picture are known as Doctor from the BBC series Doctor Who. The Series started in the 1960's in black & white with the Doctor played by William Hartnell(on Left). It has been a reoccurring series in Britain for the last 50 years with latest Doctor played by Matt Smith(on right). There have been 11 doctors so far in the series.

Now I've seen very little of the Classical Doctor Who. I watch it here and there, and the lack of available footage is outstanding. From what little I've seen of the series beginnings the Doctor's very stubborn and Hesitant about our race. It's nice seeing him become the warm hyper Doctor we now see on the BBC. Though when I watch the older Doctor's in the past do something I know the Doctor in the future does, This warm fuzzy feeling appears. I can't help thinking "He is the same guy." I'm sure the actors go in knowing that they are a continuation of a person that has been around for ages. It's nice to see the new and the old and how they clash in this series.

This year being the 50th anniversary the promise of revisiting the past is a question every fan of the series is asking. From Companions, to Monsters, to other Doctors this year looks to be exciting. The rumors are flying and I'm trying my hardest to ignore them. I look forward to the 50th, but more important I look forward to knowing Clara. The newest Companion introduced this last Christmas. She intrigues me more then the rumors. My personal favorite theory is she's Rose's and the Duplicate Doctors Daughter, from beyond the veil. That being a theory and knowing the current writer not a likely one. But until I know I will enjoy in minor indulgences.

So what's your ideas and theory's on the 50th? Remember it starts back up in April. Don't miss it!!!

Welcome

Welcome To Movies, Food, & Web Reviews!!!

My name is Katherine, and on this blog I'll be going over things I enjoy. From a recipe I have found, a movie I have seen, or something interesting from the Web. So I welcome you on this grand evasion of my life.

Now things to know, I'm a recent Grad from college my studies being in Film, Communications, and Business. Funny how I'm still Unemployed!! I have edited small videos for the last 8 years of my life, I have a vivid Imagination(don't get those dirty minds rolling), and I'm an avid Fan-girl. Note I said Fan-girl, not much of a gamer. The last game I played was Donkey Kong for Nintendo 64, could get past the mine game on level 2, so don't ask for game reviews.

On this Blog I will review shows I enjoy, Movies I like and don't Like. Recipes I have found and tried(Will include Pictures). I will also go over random things I find on the internet. No idea how often I will update, but I'll try and make it a daily thing. Can't wait to start this off!!!
