Movie Review - Larry Crowne

Movie Review - Larry Crowne

I watched this movie last night, and enjoyed it lots.

This movie came out in 2011 and is a romantic comedy staring Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. It took me awhile to get into the story, but once I fell into it I enjoyed the plot and characters instantly. I think what drawed me most to this movie was the trailer and the all star line up.  I mean I grow up with a love for Tom Hanks and Julia Robert, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be good.

The basic plot follows Larry who just got fired and decides to go back to school to increase his ability to hold a job.  He meets a teacher who has lost her passion for teaching and together they try to work out a better life for themselves.

The humor was there at points, but its the story line between the two that drives this story. If your looking for a classic romance comedy this would be it. I'd rate this 7 out of 10. Due to this being for an older audience it's hard to relate with any of the characters.

Food Review - Apple Braid

Food Review - Apple Braid

I did this Recipe for Thanksgiving, replacing the normal Apple Pie. It went over very well, most of the family wanted the recipe for it.

So I took more liberty with this recipe than I normally take. Instead of making the bread I used Pillsbury crescent rolls. I rolled it up than flattened it out. Than I added the apple mixture.

The Apple mixture consisted of 5 apples (2 Granny's, and 3 Fuji's). Than once peeled cores and cut into slices put in a bowl. I added 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon (was a little off love cinnamon), 2 teaspoon lemon juice (I used lime due to didn't realize didn't have any). Mix well than place on pastry.

Than do as you see in picture above and make slices and braid over top of fruit. I recommend putting this on baking parchment paper on a cookie sheet, cause it will leak and stick to pan no matter if its greased or not. I put egg whites on top of crescent rolls before putting in the oven to brown it. Place in oven at 350 degrees for roughly 25 minutes.

Once done add glaze which consist of 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 5 teaspoon whipping cream, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla  and a pinch of salt, and nutmeg. I ended up doing a double of the glaze cause I like glaze.

It looked like this!!

I would highly recommend this. It was easy tasted delicious, and I know cause this was the only thing that didn't have leftovers. Rated 8 out of 10, can't give it a ten because I took liberty's.

Beastly - Movie Review

Beastly - Movie Review

So watched this on Stars, and even though its been out awhile I enjoyed it!

This movie, where to begin with this movie. Beastly was released in 2011 and stars Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. Well the movie is the basic Beauty and the Beast story. Popular rich son, bases his entire life on looks, judging people by their looks, he ends up crossing the wrong person and gets cursed to look hideous  and they did good on his makeup! So enter girl who comes from a down on their luck family, needs protection from people after her dad, goes and lives with rich guy, ends up falling for him, and saying the three words that cure his curse.

Honestly the plot was so predictable, I almost fell asleep. The main characters brought nothing new to the story, but the side characters got me to laugh. This entire movie was just blah. Nothing that stood out and made we really like it. I honestly wouldn't be able to give you a single characters name cause none of them stood out. The only thing that was good was the beast makeup.

I would probably not recommend this movie. Go see the Disney version, or the CW version. 10 times better. I rate this a 4 out of 10, only due to the fact that I know how hard a movie is to make.

So least favorite movie seen in 2013?

Hotel Transylvania - Movie Review

Hotel Transylvania - Movie Review

Today I'm reviewing the movie Hotel Transylvania. Staring Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez.

I watched this movie with two friends of mine, and was mildly surprised by it. The trailer was a huge turn off for me. I had no idea how it could funny. That being said I was laughing and enjoying most of the film. The characters were unique and funny. My favorite was the invisible man played by David Spade. The plot was pretty nice to, with funny corks, and uniqueness. The music was a disappointment. With a singer like Selena Gomez in the cast, the original music was very lacking. If music was going to be a plot point they could have defiantly come up with some better pieces.

Anyway the general plot goes Dracula is in overprotective Dad mode when wife is killed by an angry mob.  In order to protect his baby girl Mavis he creates a hotel that no Human would dare to enter, guarded by miles and miles of Zombies and Ghosts. That is till a human (Johnny) with a live for today attitude decides to figure out what is beyond the haunted forests and graveyard. Dracula in order to keep this intruder hidden from his guests disguises him as a monster, but this backfires when Mavis and Johnny hit it off.

Plot wise this movie is great and I love the Characters. The music just could have been so much better. I'd rate this a 6 out of 10. I recommend for anyone with a child's heart cause you won't like this if you don't.
