Saturday Randomness

Saturday Randomness - 1/26

I have decided to make this a weekly thing!! So here is three things that I loved this weekend.

First from Pinterest this picture of Sherlock and John Watson and their Mouse counter parts. It is so well done I just love it. Not only that, but the Great Mouse Detective was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I think what I liked about this is when I looked up the artist, I used Google image search. I had no idea that if you put an URL into Google of a picture it will look up that specific picture. That's how I found out the artist is Atarial. And you can look up more of their work by going Here.

Second picture comes from Tumblr. I must say "This is absolutely gorgeous!"  The story and the rose, sigh!! I must say with so may recent retelling of the Beauty and the Beast series, This picture just brings me back the main magic that the story has. The photographers name is Aloha-Mermaid, and you can find more of their work Here.

Last is from YouTube, and this is a shout out to my Favorite Mash-up maker. This DJ mixes the number one hits into a brilliant mash-up, and they turn out brilliant. This year the song is Shine Bright by DJ EarWorm. I recommend checking out his channel, you won't be disappointed.

So that's it for this week!! See you on Monday!!

FanFiction Review - Heir of Voldemort

FanFiction Review - Heir of Voldemort

This was one of the first FanFictions I ever read, and It is still one of my favorites to this day. A FanFiction is a story that embellishes the lives of characters, creating twists and alternate outcomes for the story line.  This is a difficult thing, to take characters that have been created in certain scenarios, and having them react in scenarios you've devised. To do it well you are making an awesome story all your own.  The hardest of these are crossovers or the combining of characters from to completely different worlds.  This was my first Crossover written in 2002 (that's right Oldie) by Fryie. The Heir of Voldemort mashes the world's of Harry Potter and Buffy The Vampire Slayer in a unique and spellbinding way.

The story was written before the Order of the Phoenix release, so bare that in mind if you haven't read it.  The story itself starts out during the first war against Voldemort. Voldemort is looking for a heir, and finds potential mother in Cassandra Bones. By blackmailing her with the lives of her family he brings her to bed and the heir is created. When Voldemort falls to Harry, Cassandra goes on the run and hides where her magical energy will be masked. She gives birth to the heir and names him Alexander Harris. With Voldemort's return Cassandra must protect her son from the madman that is his father, but in the end is she enough to stop the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort from coming after Xander? Click here to find out

The reason I am able to love this story so much is that the characters that she focuses on, are not the main ones in the series. They're the ones that don't have that back story, and the writer embellished the characters in a way that it is believable.

If your looking for a good story to pass the time I recommend this whole heartily.  Rating 10 out of 10. Just because even with the Harry Potter series and Buffy series ending the way they did, This story still comes in and is just an awesome read.

Eden of The East Review

Eden of The East Anime Review

This series was created in 2009, so a bit old. I sat down today with the itch to watch it again. This series is good for first time watchers and toughs that like some mystery. It takes place both in America and Japan, and is one of the few animes good in both Japanese and English. The series is short with only 13 episodes, but also has 2, hour and a half movies to conclude the series. I love the quote "The series is like a really long preview for the movies." It's very true though. The series has the slow pacing and suspense, getting you into the story lines and figuring out the characters. The movies however forget that and keep throwing new excitements and challenges for the characters. I recommend if you do watch the series to conclude it with the movies.

This anime is really hard to explain, due to the fact that if I give you to much I'll ruin the surprise.  So I'll just describe the beginning of episode 1 for you. The female character Saki is a recent graduate of college. She is visiting America  as a congratulations for the big feat. On her last day, she sneaks away from her group of friends and goes to Washington DC, to make a wish on the white house fountain. She gets caught by the police and just as she is about to get questioned she is saved, by a naked man with a gun(Akira). I leave you with that, if interested the series is up on Hulu, and Netflix.

I would give this series a 10 out of 10. The plot, characters, everything is there.

Do you watch anime? Any particular style?

Mini Taco's - Food Review

Mini Taco's - Food Review

Today we will be doing a food review. Now there are a lot of recipes floating around the internet. But this one is easy, delicious, and the longest thing to do is defrost the hamburger meat.  I would recommend these for any of those Sunday game party's. They're normally the first thing to disappear.

What you need to be successful is a pound of hamburger meat, one package of taco seasoning, shredded cheese, a package of wanton wrappers, and a cupcake tin.

First thing you do is cook the hamburger meat and add taco seasoning like you would normally make tacos. While the meat cooks you grease the cupcake sheet and place the wanton wrappers in the cupcake molds. Once the meat is cooked and seasoned, add to the wanton wrappers in tin, and sprinkle cheese on top. Place in oven for 8 minutes at 350 degrees. Done!!

Than place favorite toppings go on top. I add olives, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. They taste to die for.

Here's a pick of the ones I made.

Any good recipes you have found??

Beast Master Review

Beast Master - Manga Review

This was the one of the first mangas I actually purchased. I bought the first volume on a whim while on vacation. I was immediately in love with the story and the two main characters. The story line was sweet and heart warming all at the same time. This series only has 2 volumes so it's easy on your pocket book as well.

First want to give a shout out to the writer/drawer Kyousuke Motomi. I'm a fan of not only this but another manga called Dengeki Daisy. The art of her stories is just amazing. I like her quote "If my stories can touch you, make you laugh, forget unhappy things, or even give you that 'good job' feeling, then I'll be super, super happy!" - Kyousuke Motomi. Her stories defiantly make you feel happy and just take you into the lives of the characters.

In Beast Master the main character is Yuiko Kubozuka. She is a high school that loves animals, there is only a small problem, any animal she comes in contact with gets upset, attacks her, and runs away. It is while she is chasing her pet cat that we meet the second main character Leo Aoi, who saves her cat that has run up a tree. He mysteriously runs away before she can get his name, only to appear in class the next day. His looks of a wild animal scare most of the classmates away. Turns out he was raised on the deserted plains of Africa, and doesn't know much about normal society. This and his wild looks make him a target for thugs. The only problem is Leo doesn't know when to stop, so its up to Yuiko to keep him from going overboard. In exchange Leo brings her closer to the animals Yuiko loves so much.

I would recommend this to anyone in need of a good story. I enjoyed this manga series a lot and would give it a 8 of 10 rating. Only downside, was giving the short length of the story told, every chapter had the same intro. It bugged me a lot.

Do you read manga? Any favorite writers?

Beast Master Belongs to Viz Media and Shogakukan.
